Standing in the Gap

"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none" (Ezk. 2:20).
Standing today is not very popular folks, but it is with God. We wouldn't be faced with all the problems we are faced with in the Lord's church today if men would have stood in the gap and the members of the Lord's church would respect and support those who are willing to stand there in the gap. If we don't stand in the gap we're not going to be able to preach fast enough in the future. When you stand up and preach against sin and you call sin by name, people get mad! They get upset at you. They say you're old fashioned, you're old fogey. Brothers and sisters, this Book is old, okay? The Lord's church has been around since AD33, so it's old. From the depths of my heart I'm able to tell you, I don't care how old it is, it can save our souls, and I want to be saved! Truth! ...the same yesterday, today, and will be tomorrow.

Blessings

Tim Watts
The object of our worship is God Matt. 4:10). One of the reasons we should worship Him is because He has blessed us with all blessings. This includes blessings that are both physical and spiritual.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17). Of physical blessings, we are here reminded that all are ours to receive and enjoy because of God. The food we eat, the clothes on our back and the air that we breathe are bestowed upon us by our Heavenly Father. We are the recipients of the warm rays of the sun, the rain that waters the earth and even of life itself. "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills" (Psa. 50:10). It all belongs to God and He shares it with us. Verse 11 of the same Psalm continues: "I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine." Man often thinks himself to be so self-sufficient. He surrounds himself with the treasures of earth. Enjoying good health he may think that he is really in control. However, notice verse 12 of this Psalm: "If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof." Contrary to what some worldlings may think, humanity will not be hearing a plea from God for any assistance. What did the verse declare? "If I were hungry, I would not tell thee."

Busy...

The Light
Busy...
Throughout the growing season, Elaine and I enjoyed a small garden (very small). The racoons enjoyed it too. I had a few cantaloupe vines in the garden, with a good number of melons. Anxious to try the produce, I pulled the first, finding it not as sweet as a couple more days on the vine would have made it. But the next morning I found that the coons thought they were just right. I had several less melons than the night before. I knew I needed to set some traps, and fully intended to, but got busy and forgot it until after nightfall. But, because it was night out, I decided to wait till morning after all, I had a number of melons left, and the coons might not be back. But that night, they brought in all the neighbors—I mean, they cleaned me out. We had eaten the only cantaloupe we would get. Well, I set the traps (of course), and in about 3 nights had "relocated" 4 coons and 3 skunks. But it was too late. My cantaloupes were gone. You know, at times that's about the way it is in the church and in the family.
